Reiki

The word "Reiki" means "mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign." It comes from the Japanese words "rei" (universal) and "ki" (life energy).

Reiki originated in Japan in the late 1800s and is not always recognized as there are no scientific means to prove it’s effectiveness.  However, people that have gone for the treatment says it works.

Reiki is used for health and wellness and is a form of alternative therapy also referred to as energy healing.

Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Practitioners say it improves the flow of energy around the body and can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

What happens in a Reiki session?

A Reiki session can be held anywhere but is best carried out in a peaceful environment.  The patient will either sit or lie down for the session.

The practitioner will confirm with the patient if the practitioner is allowed to touch the patient or not.  Then the practitioner will place their hands over areas of the head, limbs, and torso for 2 – 5 minutes.  In this process, the transfer of energy takes place and continued until the energy stopped flowing.
